DRAWING ACROSS AMERICA
Drawing across America: A drawing made continuously while traveling by train across America.
Drawing across America: A drawing made continuously while traveling by train across America.
I drew continuously from dawn to dusk, stopping only briefly for quick meals and rest stops. I tried to capture the beauty of the changing landscape as it went by my window.
I drew continuously from dawn to dusk, stopping only briefly for quick meals and rest stops. I tried to capture the beauty of the changing landscape as it went by my window.
The drawing was made in a series of 40 folding accordion sketchbooks. The resulting drawing is 5” high and - when stretched out end to end - 400’ long.
It can be viewed:
as a GALLERY - you can look through to find a particular location or drawing; or click through as a SLIDE SHOW;
as an unfolding SCROLL,
as an ANIMATION (set to a score by my friend Austin Fisher).
You can also watch a LECTURE I gave about the drawing: Drawing at the intersection of time and space, about drawing.
